I continue to be amazed by the amount of people who work hard to publish a great newsletter everyday or week...
Then never publish that content anywhere else.
Repurpose!
It’s the easiest way to grow your email list organically.
Every newsletter can become:
A podcast
A lead magnet
A YouTube video
A course module
Multiple social posts
Employee training material
Part of a welcome sequence
And so much more…
Over time, that repurposed content will grow your email list and your business — without much additional work.
Here’s how: Use my ADAPT framework.
ADAPT: The 5 best ways to repurpose your newsletter
ADAPT is an acronym that stands for:
Amplify - Expand a paragraph, section, or idea into a full post that goes deeper
Direct - Direct adaptations of the content that summarize the newsletter
Ask - Share a question, start a debate, or poll to drive engagement
Pull - Post a short quote or section
Transcribe - Create script for a video and/or podcast
Amplify
Expand a paragraph, section, or idea into a full post that goes deeper on one concept.
If you have a 500-1000+ word article or deep dive in your newsletter, there are multiple ideas that could be expanded and amplified into a dedicated post on social.
Direct
Direct adaptations of the content to social.
This one is simple. Take your main newsletter content and summarize it into one post.
This could be a LinkedIn/Instagram carousel, long-form LinkedIn posts, Twitter/X thread, and much more.
Ask
Share question, start a debate, or poll to drive engagement.
This is engagement bait. It’s likely your newsletter content could imply a question or a controversy that will drive engagement on social.
That could be a simple poll, like:
“Do you repurpose your newsletter into other content?'“
“Always!”
“Never”
“Sometimes”
It could be an open-ended question to start a conversation: “How are you repurposing your newsletter content to social? If you’re not, why?”
Or a controversial topic or idea that sparks a debate: “Publishing a newsletter and never repurposing that content elsewhere is the stupidest thing anyone could do. It’s better never to start a newsletter at all!”
These examples are silly, but you get the point.
Pull
Pull out and post a short quote or section from your newsletter.
Did your newsletter have a great one-liner? A paragraph that could stand on its own?
Take a few seconds to share it on social.
Or, put it into a graphic that will drive more engagement.
Transcribe
Create script for a video and/or podcast.
Newsletters make great video scripts and topics. You could edit your newsletter into a script that flows smoothly when spoken (AI is great at this).
Or you can use your newsletter as a written aid to riff on.
That’s the ADAPT framework
If you're not turning your newsletter into more assets, you're missing out on growth.
Use ADAPT to repurpose your newsletter this week. If you publish a weekly newsletter and repurpose it into 5 posts per week on 2 platforms, that's 500+ posts per year.
